Hello, and welcome to my website!

This is a new website, and a new experience for me, so please forgive any errors in set-up or posting, I am still  learning! I have just completed my first novel, (also a learning experience) “Finding Maslow.” I’m very excited to announce that it has already won two awards, through the Feathered Quill book contest!

I’ve written a post about the origin of the book, but for now I just want to say that my work in New York, leading right up until Sandy hit, was what impacted me and compelled me to tell this story.

I am already working on the beginnings of two additional books, one will be a spin-off of Finding Maslow, and one is a collaboration with my son, Dmitry, about his experience (and mine) going through the process of adopting him from Russia.

My background:  I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington.  I received a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Washington, and then a Masters in Public Administration from Seattle University.  I received my law degree from Seattle University School of Law. I have spent my career working in healthcare, starting out as a fraud investigator for an insurance company, then becoming in-house regulatory counsel for a large health system.  I moved to Maryland in 2007, and worked first as a healthcare compliance officer, then moved over to the consulting side.  I also spent over a year living and working in New York, which was the experience that served as a catalyst for ‘Finding Maslow.’

I am fortunate to have lived and worked on both coasts, and traveled to various places where I have met so many fascinating people!  I love the richness that diversity of culture and experience brings to this life, and hope to continue expanding those horizons.  My hope is that my writing will allow me to share some aspects of those experiences and to provide insights into people and places that have impacted me and may provide insight, or at least entertainment.

Lastly, I want to thank Alton Knight Photography for my personal photos!
